Like: The R&A giving consideration to a “postal vote” (as opposed to a show of hands of those present) on the proposal to admit women members. Much more democratic. Also, a postal vote—encompassing over 2,000 members around the world—will likely favor the pro-women side inasmuch as the general wisdom is that the farther a member lives from St. Andrews, the more liberal-minded on this question he will tend to be.
Don’t Like: The potential ramifications for the R&A—both the private club and the governing body—if this vote, which requires a two-thirds majority, does not carry.
