With eight weeks to go before the world’s top 70 players arrive for the WGC Cadillac Championship, there is still much work to be done at Doral. The enormous clubhouse is basically a shell and the only dining facilities are at the adjoining pool and spa. But don’t bet against it all coming together—this after all is a Trump production and The Donald usually finds a way. When the construction schedule fell a bit behind recently, he simply added more bodies. Now each morning nearly 400 workers arrive to have at it. The good news is that Gil Hanse’s renovation of the Blue Monster is ready—and it will confront the pros with a slew of new challenges. More than 500 yards have been added to the back tees (now over 7600), a few holes have been completely rerouted, and several greens have been relocated to bring more water into play. This year's tournament likely will not be a birdie fest but it should be a fun show.
